Description
Extramural is the marketing campaign for a fictional PS2 era game. The marketing campaign is hosted through a website and the game content itself is made and animated through Blender, utilizing Adobe Photoshop + Illustrator to create the UI portions of the “game”.
The marketing of this game surrounds the feeling of dissociation and derealization, often facilitated by the overuse of digital media itself through the marketing generated for a product that is not real. The title reflects the feeling of being trapped outside of one’s own persona or life, and the roadblock to reconnection to the self that digital media (especialy games) often creates. The decision of a PS2 game was made off of the nostalgia PS2 titles and graphical fidelity holds for both myself and several of my peers. This nostalgic urge to relive the past instead of moving forward in life can often contribute to dissociative cycles as well, reinforcing my original thematic goal of my project.
